I'm Erika Phillips, an industrial firefighter whose lifelong passion has always been helping dogs in need.

​

For years, I have rescued, fostered, rehabilitated, and advocated for vulnerable dogs—many from Northern Ontario and remote communities where access to veterinary care, transportation, and rescue resources can be limited. Every dog has reinforced what I've always believed: every life deserves compassion, safety, and a second chance.

​

I created Homeward Bound K9 Rescue to help bridge that gap.

​

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs while building meaningful partnerships with northern communities, veterinary clinics, transport volunteers, and fellow rescue organizations. We believe every dog deserves individualized care, patience, and the opportunity to find a loving, permanent home.

​

To me, rescue is about more than finding dogs a place to live. It's about giving them a chance to heal, restoring their trust, supporting the people and communities who care for them, and creating lasting change through collaboration and compassion.

​

At home, I'm surrounded by my own rescue dogs, who remind me every day why this work matters. They are the heart behind Homeward Bound K9 Rescue and the inspiration for everything we do.
